Case Studies/Clients:
Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort
(Zephyr Wind Turbine Project)
www.jiminypeak.com
Lots of businesses are jumping on the green bandwagon, but few can say they’ve spent $3.9 million on a GE wind turbine named Zephyr. Jiminy Peak can. One of the only wind turbines installed at a ski resort, Zephyr is estimated to cut down Jiminy’s electricity consumption by 33% each year. Xpresso worked with Jiminy Peak to plan and alert the media about a dedication ceremony and Renewable Energy Summit held at the mountain on Zephyr’s first day of operation. Through our efforts, CNBC covered the turbine installation with a story that aired nationwide twice, and the Wall Street Journal devoted business coverage to the behind-the-scenes story of the turbine’s financing.
Global Environmental Services
www.globalrcy.com
As businesses everywhere are jumping on the green movement, one Connecticut-based company stands out as a catalyst to the movement in the state. In the spring of 2008, a major trash hauling company in Southern Connecticut decided it was time to diversify and not adopt "green" practices themselves, but help other companies to employ eco-friendly practices as well.
The new venture called Global Environmental Services is now a leader in the food by-product waste hauling and recycling industry. As Connecticut’s only food by-product waste recycling company, Global sought out Xpresso to become well-recognized in the region, and expand their customer base.
Xpresso also helped Global launch a major PR campaign aimed at increasing brand awareness, focusing on the positive environmental impacts recycling food-waste has on the planet. Xpresso showcased Global’s innovative services and practice of turning your garbage and food scraps into reusable, renewable resources such as nutrient-rich top soil and compost, which is carried out by hauling the food waste to a food waste recycling plant in Northwestern Connecticut.
Iceland Tourism Board/IcelandNaturally
(World’s First Hydrogen Filling Station)
www.goiceland.org
In an historic ceremony in 2003, XpressoEco staffers helped the Icelandic government and international business leaders launch the world’s first hydrogen filling station opened at an existing gas station. Our press announcement was covered worldwide. Through this event, Iceland became the world’s first country to pledge the future of its society to this newly feasible source of energy. The country hopes one day – perhaps by 2050 – to eliminate the need for fossil fuels entirely. XpressoEco continues working on behalf of business development for the country, particularly in regards to tourism.
