February 14, 2007 - Women want TVs, not diamonds.
A 2006 survey by Oxygen network reports that 77% of women said they prefer a plasma TV to a diamond solitaire necklace. In fact, women initiate 75% of all consumer electronic purchases. With projected factory-to-dealer CE sales exceeding $155 billion in 2007, that’s a pretty large chunk of change.
But consumer electronics is only one industry. Women are making 80% of ALL purchase decisions, so here are a few tips for marketing to them:
- Talk about how products connect them to friends and family.
- Show them how you’ll make their lives easier.
- Provide as much information and as many choices as possible.
- Don’t talk down. Women are just as savvy as any of their male counterparts.
